This is the reel that became the replacement for the 302. When the 302 was discontinued in the early 70's, this was the closest thing Mitchell had in their product line-up to replace it. When the 386 did not sell as well as they expected it to, it was renamed the 302N. It is believed that the "N" stood for "NEW". Both the 302N and the 386 (same reel) were very good reels, in fact I think better than the old 302, but they never really caught on like their predecessor.
The 386 weighed 22 ozs., spool capacity was 300 yards of 20 lb. It's bail and roller were Hard-Chrome and it's gears were Aluminum and Brass. Retrieve ratio is 3.5:1.
Not considered Rare, but like it's big brother, the 488, it's becoming hard to find MIB.
