The 3rd. version of the Mitchell 350. There were two versions prior to this one. The first was sold in Europe by Mitchell in 1956 and was not numbered but rather was named "Rapid". The second version, circa 1957, was exactly like this one except that it had a yellow "Garcia Sticker" on the handle side. This was before Mitchell started engraving the Garcia name on the side plate. Note the 5/1 under the Mitchell name. The retrieve ratio is 5 to 1.
This particular reel has an aftermarket Tournament Casting Spool and a high speed handle. These two modifications were made aftermarket. The handle is the style that was used on the Garcia Mitchell 900 circa 1978. The spool was machined out of hardened Aluminum by Bill Burke of Tournament Casting fame.
The old reel is kinda rough, could use a new bail, but it's retired now. Anyway, they say "wrinkles add charcter."
